I bring extensive academic experience as a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL) and Visiting Lecturer at the University of Moratuwa and Windfield Academy of Business and Finance. I’ve also lectured on human resource management and management for Oman Navy personnel. My diverse work background includes directorships at Regional Development Bank (RDB) and Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL), and senior management roles such as Senior Deputy General Manager at National Savings Bank. With 22 years of service in various management positions and a background in marketing and administration, I’ve contributed to organizations like State Printing Corporation, Maharaja Organization, Sherman Sons, and Janatha Estate Development Board.

In his current capacity, he spearheads the transformation of the supply chain, enhancing efficiency through restructuring the supply department and implementing industry best practices. He has played a pivotal role in shifting the company’s culture from project-based cost savings to one that embraces lean principles throughout the organization. Sanath, a certified Lean trainer and holder of both Green Belt and Black Belt in Lean Manufacturing, has spearheaded lean transformation initiatives at his current workplace. He has strategically driven central cost-saving efforts by identifying and eliminating waste across the operation. Trained in Japan on the Toyota Production System, he emphasizes continuous improvement (Kaizen) in productivity, cost reduction, lean supply chain, and operational continuity, ultimately enhancing company profits and brand image.

Prior to his current role, Sanath held senior positions at local conglomerates and multinational companies. As Senior Strategic Buyer at Nestle Lanka Limited in 2005, he significantly reduced the cost of packaging material through the introduction of e-Auction as an innovative buying practice. As Deputy General Manager Group Procurement at Sunshine Holdings from 2006 to 2015, Sanath was enthusiastically involved in cost reduction initiatives. As Deputy General Manager Procurement at Lanka Sathosa, he centralized the procurement system, making the whole process transparent. Additionally, he set up the central distribution system, which was one of the largest in the retail industry in Sri Lanka at that time.

Sanath’s experience encompasses end-to-end supply chain operations, with a specialization in the hospital sector. His expertise includes healthcare procurement, inventory management of medicine and surgical items, demand planning, maintenance of medical equipment, and project procurement specific to healthcare.
